A byte-sized review for a byte-sized game.

I grabbed this one for free from Epic as I was quite interested on its typing gameplay.

You wander around mounted on a fox, typing words to either decorate or unblock your path, or to beat enemies during combat sequences that proved somewhat challenging and quite engaging.

Imagine being on the edge of your fingertips, hastily trying to type C-O-U-N-T-E-R-C-H-A-L-L-E-N-G-E-S, to wound a particularly annoying approaching enemy (and you die a one-hit death if they reach you). Only to brace yourself to the second word you need to type after that so they actually die: H-E-T-E-R-O-G-E-N-E-O-U-S-N-E-S-S.

Oh, the thrill!!!

The visuals are very attractive, in a stylized origami world. But the main character animation was a bit jarring.

You’re dropped in this world, trying to make sense of what’s around and while you’re finding your way and unblocking more and more to see, the narrator tells you the story of the main character, which I found very predictable (once I figured out what was going on), but still enjoyable.

It goes for around 15 bucks on Steam and 12 on Epic Games Store, and while it might be worth your hard earned money if you’re totally into typing games, I’d say it will probably make more sense for a broader audience if you wait for a discount/promotion.
