Once I was done with Lies of P I had some time to start a new game before the holiday season.

What I wanted to play next was Ghost of Tsushima, but the idea of starting the game, having the holiday break, and then resuming it on 2025 didn’t appeal to me.

So I looked for a bite-sized indie game on my wishlist and found Cocoon.

It got some hype for the nice visuals and the “innovative” inception mechanic.

While I can report that, yes, it looks nice; and yes, the whole world-inside-a-world mechanic does allow for some very interesting puzzling, the game feels very bland.

You can get absorbed in solving the puzzles, and visually pleased with how it looks, but there is no depth to the story-telling or plot. The game throws a bunch of alien and strange things at you, that you’d expect would make some sense at some later point in the game, but I’m either stupid, or there’s nothing to make sense of here.

Oh, and do give the game some time if it looks dumb in the beginning, it does pick up the pace.
